New York City with the Yoon sisters
I had another business trip come up. Ronan Dunlop, one of my co-workers, and I met with a venture capital firm in New York City. We presented them our proposal for their new website. We’re in competition with a few other firms trying to get the job and I still don’t know if we got it or not. Anyways, I was just mentioning this so you know why I was in New York.
This blog post is really more about what happened after the 10am business meeting. Once the meeting ended, roughly 11am, I met up with Debbie Yoon , another one of my co-workers and good friend, and her sister Joyce Yoon.
Sadly, the weather was less than ideal. The temperature wasn’t bad, but it was humid, rainy and wet. Ugh. We had a good time anyways. I had recently read a fascinating biography on Andrew Carnegie, old dead rich guy who paid for a bunch of libraries to be built all across america, thus I wanted to go see the main New York Library. It was close by, but the weather was so bad that instead of walking we took several different subway trains to get as close to the library as we could without having to walk in the open air.
Excuse me while I go on a quick side tangent. I love and hate the New York subways. The system is awesome, it’s fast, easy and cheap. Perfect. Except it is extremely hot and dirty. Normally I don’t mind dirty, but the dirt was in the air and their was no ventilation so you just breathed it in. You could taste the air, gross.
Anyways, back to the library. The library was amazing! It’s so HUGE! We went on a free tour with a guide that showed us around and told us about the history of the library. A lot of the furniture in the library is the original furniture that was designed by the architects who designed the library. The furniture is still in use today. Pretty awesome. The best part was the main reading room. Probably one of the largest, if not the largest, single room I’ve ever seen without any interior supporting columns. If you ever have the chance to visit this library I highly recommend it.
After touring through the library we moved on to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I’m not about to describe the many amazing things I saw here. Let’s just say it was amazing and I’ll be going back the next chance I get. I didn’t even come close to seeing all the things I wanted.
Lastly, we closed on a local burger joint that Joyce had seen featured on a food TV show. The burgers and the beers were awesome. I hear the milkshake was the best ever.
PS: Debbie, Joyce, Mr. & Ms. Yoon, thank you so much for your hospitality and inviting me into your home. I had a wonderful time getting to know you all and hope that one day I’ll see you all again.

Funny. I will have to send this along to Joyce.
— DebbieYeah, we had fun that day, even if the subway and the weather was crazy!
Definitely go back to the Met with Carmen when you get the chance. And I wish I could get another one of those burgers. Those were tasty.
YUUMMM..toasted marshmallow milkshakes!! Sooo good. I’m glad you had fun and you must come back to NYC. There is so much more to see and do. Thanks for posting the pics. We hope to see you soon!
