Carmen and Derrek are now married! The party was an absolute blast! And for those of you who are wondering our names are Derrek Pearson and Carmen Holt.

We’ll be posting a little web gallery with lots of pictures in the days to come.

We went to the “Mountain Man” festival underneath Pinnacle mountain just outside of Little Rock, AR. There were a lot of people set up with different tents and booths showcasing different mountain man like crafts. Spencer and I even got to make our own rope!

I actually bought one of their CDs, well my mom bought it for me, thanks mom! — I didn’t have any cash on me. The CD is called “The Old School Classics by “Bluegrass Band”. You can check them out at “<a href=”http://www.oldschoolband.com”>oldschoolband.com</a>.

Our genius little brother was wrestling the other day and broke his arm. Somebody picked up little tut and threw him to the ground. He tried to brace himself with his poor little arm and then the arm gave way. Well, now our little brother is going to have an “enhanced” elbow with one or two additional screws to keep things in working order. Get well soon little brother!

Tyler and went to the War Memorial Opera House tonight and saw the Merola Grand Finale. It was a collection of different pieces from different operas performed by different opera singers. The set design was lacking but the music was beautiful.

I particularly got a kick out of a take they did on the magic flute were the ‘magic flute’ was actually a gun - when you consider some of the lyrics it was pretty funny.

Yes that’s right. I, Derrek, won a contest! I think it’s the first contest I’ve ever won. My name was submitted along with a bunch of other German students that are attending the Goethe Institut to study German to a hat drawing and I was picked. I get to go to Germany for 4 weeks to study German in either October, November or December in either Bonn (20 kilometers outside of Cologne), Berlin, Munich or Schwäbisch Hall. The contest covers tuition, accommodation and $500 towards air fare. I’m not sure when or even if I can go yet, but I’m going to make every effort to make it happen. More news as I get it. I’m very excited!

We bought our self a little gas grill and some tables and chairs to eat outside!

Hello. I recorded this song for you brother S. I used my Edirol R-09 digital recorder, apple garageband, my lapsteel and vocals. Just to give you an idea of what you can do with that equipment.

p.s. i noticed that when i upload this song the tempo slowed down greatly and the bass increased. I added reverb and echo for fun. It is what it is.
