Santa Cruz

Last weekend we drove to Santa Cruz and spent the day exploring. We’ve been in California for 7 1/2 years, and this was our first time to see the town. It is such a cool, laid-back little beach town. It even had an old fashioned board walk with rides and games. We went on the Giant Dipper roller coaster. It only lasted about one minute, but it was awesome! Here are some photos from the day.

Vancouver Trip

I know it’s been a while since we took our trip to Vancouver, but better late than never… right? Tyler Wilman was our wonderful host. We stayed at his rad new apartment in Vancouver for a few nights, then we took a ferry to Vancouver Island and stayed at his family’s cabin. Despite the rain (every day for a week!), it was relaxing and beautiful. We spent our time exploring flea markets, driving around the island, taking long walks on the beach, looking at cows and goats at one of the local farms, and watching the Giants kick the Rangers’ asses in the World Series! Here are some pictures I took with the polaroid app on my phone.

Our Living Room Gets a New Coat of Paint

We’ve been talking about decorating our new apartment for a while, and we’ve finally painted one of the rooms! Geoffrey, Joe, Mark, and Obie came over a few weeks ago to give us some tips. They left us with tons of good ideas. Here is what it looks like after a fresh coat of paint and a new print found at the Alameda Flea Market. Today we took the print to Frames on 3rd to get it reframed. We still need to get some more art for the walls, find a coffee table, put up drapes, reupholster the mid century chair, get rid of the brown chair, get something to put the TV on, and the list goes on and on. But for right now… I am digging the new look :)

Hallo Freunde,

Warum soll man nach Kitzbuehl, Kitzbuehl kommt zu mir. Um 10:00 Uhr Morgens hatten wir schon 10 cm Neuschnee, jetzt bestimmt zweimal so viel und es soll noch fuer drei Stunden weiterschneien. Verrueckt. Das ist der vierte Schnee des Jahres. Wie in den Alpen sage ich euch.

Walking through San Francisco with Mom & Bill

We went on a nice long walk through San Francisco. Starting out at our apartment on 9th Avenue, making our way down Arguello street, up into Golden Gate park and then down Hayes street. We circled about in lower hayes checking out the various shops and then walked up the hill to enjoy the Alamo Square park.

It was beautiful whether that day, so we kept on walking. If you’ve visited Carmen and I in San Francisco, you know all about this. Walk, walk and walk so more : ) And that’s what we did! We then walked into downtown and checked out a few shops here and there. We stopped at a cafe on market street and enjoyed an italian soda, ice tea a few snacks and what not. After a good rest we walked so more. Finally, we made our way over towards the bottom of California street and at some point we caught a bus home. It was a wonderful, beautiful day.

We bought a new car! I know, hard to believe. The dominant reason is for Carmen’s work, but of course we’ll use it for personal use as well. It’s a 2007 model with only 22,000 miles on it. Great condition.
